Although this Initiative to restore Utah's flag is a bipartisan effort, the Delegates of the Utah GOP have already shown overwhelming support. The state Delegates, who elect their party nominee, passed a Resolution in support  of the Utah State flag during the party's state convention held on April 22, 2023. It's a clear rejection of the new flag that will be effective March 9, 2024. When the initiative gathers enough signatures, the issue will be on the general election ballot on Nov. 5, 2024.

On August 18, 2023, the GOP State Central Committee (SCC), the governing body of the party, adopted a Resolution to Restore the Utah Flag standing and supporting the statewide ballot initiative to restore the Utah flag.
